As we are approaching the Grand Final of WESG 2018-2019, it’s time to announce the first invites for teams and players in CS:GO, Dota 2, Hearthstone, and StarCraft II.
In the CS:GO division, we are happy to reveal that MiBR and Fnatic will be competing in this year’s Grand Final. The Swedish five of Fnatic is set to return as the reigning champions of WESG, as they took the first place in the previous season. On the other hand, we have famous Brazilians from MiBR with their updated roster. WESG 2018-2019 Grand Final will be one of the first LAN-events for MiBR’s new squad.
Team Aster and ViCi Gaming are the first teams that have been invited to WESG 2018-2019 Grand Final in Dota 2. Aster, the squad that is coached by well-known Xu "BurNIng" Zhilei, and ViCi have both attended the first two Majors in the current DPC season, The Kuala Lumpur Major and The Chongqing Major. Aster and ViCi are recognized as some of the finest Dota 2 lineups in the Chinese region.
For the StarCraft II division, we have handed out invites to Cho "Maru" Seong Ju and Huang "TooDming" Huiming, who represent South Korea and China, respectively. Maru will come back as the reigning champion of WESG, as he won the WESG 2017 after beating Park "Dark" Ryung Woo in the final series, while the Chinese players will make his debut at World Electronic Sports Games.
Speaking about WESG 2018-2019 Grand Final in Hearthstone, the first pair of invites has been received by Jon "Orange" Westberg and GoeLionKing. Orange participated in the inaugural season of WESG back in 2017, finishing on the second place after losing to Staz in the last match, but in case of GoeLionKing, it will be his first WESG event.
The Grand Final of World Electronic Sports Games 2018-2019 will be held in Chongqing in March. A total prize pool across all divisions will amount to $5,5 million. The second half of invites to our event is to be revealed in the near future!
